yo whatever happened to gladiators n coliseums n shit? when did we decide that blood sports were bad? im tryna see two men kill each other on pay per view

dont worry im a feminist id pay to see two women kill each other as well

political correctness killed the gladiatorial arena and its disgusting. fucking millennials (400 AD)

gladiators were actually very skilled and expensive to train (not to mention charismatic and popular), so they rarely fought to the death actually; it was more of a… ritualized theatrical combat

the modern equivalent you’re looking for is professional wrestling

Ok but when are professional wrestlers gonna be throwing nets and shit and using swords???

what is a chair if not a modern day sword

what is a table but a domestic net

Luffy Jump Covers– 2004

2004 was a big year for Shonen Jump. In addition to Death Note and Gintama starting, this was the first year Luffy, Naruto and Ichigo graced the cover of Jump representing the “Legendary Big Three.” This was a term created by manga fans because One Piece, Naruto and Bleach topped the manga sales charts and would for nearly a decade. Shuiesha (Jump’s parent company) hasn’t enjoyed owning all the top spots for yearly and quarterly manga sales in a long time.

The name wasn’t just because these three were at the top– it was also because of just how many volume copies were selling. Even today, the Legendary Big Three still rank at the top of the overall best selling manga list. One Piece at number 1, Naruto at number 3, and Bleach at number 10.

As for Luffy’s covers specifically, there was a movie promotion cover for OP movie 5, and my personal favorite would have to be of sketchy Luffy (issue 25).
